DAY 28 – Bethel, ME to Greensboro, VT

Before taking off, we explored Bethel, a historic old NE town. We went by to see Gould Academy, a prep school attended by the son of a good friend of ours. We then went on a northern byway through Grafton Notch State Park and were wowed by the fantastic foliage colors. FINALLY, what we have been waiting to see in our Leaf Odyssey. On the way, we saw our first NE covered bridge over the Sunday River – an historic gem. Lunchtime found us in Errol, a tiny (pop. 200) town in northern NH where a Lumberman’s Festival is taking place with tree chopping and sawing events and a great pie sale. Peter has an elk burger for lunch – sortof like a buffalo burger. We then drive down the Androscoggin River, beautiful scenery. We finally get to Greensboro and the house of our dear
friend, Lee Dabney.
